Analysing genre: Classical

This magazine completely follows conventions and stereotypes:

The masthead from this magazine front cover is one sixth of the page, it's colour scheme also relates to the stereotypical convention of classical. The cover stories are very simplistic and do not in any way draw the reader in.

I believe that this magazine genre defies Hall and Morley's representation theories; the main concept of this front cover, the magazine is ultimately simple and hardly graphically changed. The  cover merely just has simple cover stories with an average medium shot with no help of: lighting, make-up, costume,  etc. The producers of this magazine have put little effort into there choice of colour, location, shot type for instance.

I like the main colour scheme's of the masthead because it is quite eye-catching, although the image in this front cover doesn't attract my attention, his pose is very simplistic and doesn't make me want to buy this magazine in any way.
