Youthful/direct image: suitable
I feel this image is particularly youthful and fresh. The use of make-up especially illustrates her adolescent look. This type of image would be ideal for my magazine, in retrospect it is simple but effective.
New look at Classical, Youth image
I believe this image/article ties into the overall look I am trying to establish within my magazine, nostalgic, modernistic, unconventional. This image is ultimately simplistic but could portray an upcoming artist. Personally I feel this type of shot (medium/long shot) would suit my magazine. I further feel this article really addresses my target audience, "forget the format, give us the music" simply telling it as it is.
Further thoughts on image
The pose within this image strikes me to be somewhat enigmatic; difficult to interpret, she looks extremely intriguing and as a reader you want to read more about her. From the image you can see the artificial lighting which really compensates the pose of her, subsequently I feel this has ben taken in a studio. In which case would be ideal for me.
Ideal photograph; Exciting, unconvention
I believe this image would fit my magazine like a glove. This image not only captures the new look for the classical music front but establishes representation theories. Richard Dyer's theory strongly links to this image with her being the star, "a star is an image not a real person that is constructed" primarily i feel this because of the mysterious dew green that appears behind this photograph. This image really en captures my thoughts of my ideal look of my front cover.
Classical music devlopment
I believe from this that we are seeing a development in the genre becoming more modern and losing the stereotypical representation of old, philarmonical orchestra, boring, dead people. The genre has been within the groove for centuries, but i now feel there is a break in the mould. A new unique, youthful look that can further engage a younger audience.
Competition within the magazine
This exciting, youthful festival is very nostalgic with the vibrant colours and eye popping graphics. In my opinion this would be ideal for my magazine, a trip to Tokyo to see this reinvented classical festival. Furthermore this would engage my audience more, cheap prices for high quality performances, in which broadens my target audience. This is the reason of it being more affordabe so it is not stricken to "upper class" but can appeal to a broader range.

Updated thougths about audience for my magazine

- Age: my magazine appeals to 16 onwards because of the nostalgic classical music.
- Do my audience want to win something? Win a trip to London or Paris to see classical music

Updated ideas for double page spread
In my double page spread, I would like to try and use most of the conventions I have seen in classical music magazines. Such as the white on black font within the columns of text usually within a soft colour scheme. I believe this is because it is easier to read for the audience and the magazine appears much more professional and sleek. I would also ideally like to use one large image in my double page spread, this is because it provides bold visual impact and, particularly for the younger audience, is more interesting as younger people often skim read the text. Also, one large image is much more dynamic than having lots of different ones and centrals where you look when you look at the page. I would like my page numbers jotted around the page within puffs and vary in size according to the importance of the story. My overall look shall be red because it links to my logo and colour scheme throughout; Red, black and white.

Evaluation of first photo-shoot
Personally I feel my first photo shoot went well but could of been improved. In retrospect I got lots of different shots but I could of got a further variety of shots such as low angle shot or a high angle shot. My models worked well and followed my instructions for my certain poses so I was pleased. I was disappointed with the weather on the day of the photo shoot because I was unable to go outside and get shots.

Evaluation of props
Within the photo shoot I used a simplistic variety of props. The props I used were classical instruments from the music room were a violin, tuba, piano. They all entitled a vast array of different shots. The piano enriched myself with extreme close ups ideally for the contents page. The violin was personally my favourite prop because it really captured the genre of my magazine. My target audience are the reason for these instruments to denote this genre of music. The use of the instruments were so the reader of the magazine would be able to replicate what they are doing and be able to link to it. Furthermore making the magazine more engaging and hitting the target audience more directly.

Evaluation of my model (s)
I personally felt that my models Eleanor, Robbie worked very well within my photo shoot, this was the reason of being willing to attempt any pose I asked for, Robbie particularly did really well at engaging with the
camera in my photographs. My models also even suggested poses that they thought were appropriate, they were both really creative and fun to take photos with. I really liked how experimental my models were with here facial expressions and poses. The fact
that my models was able to experiment with lots of different poses
helped me to create interesting images. I was
able to see what worked for my models and what didn't
whist I was taking photographs. My models worked really well with the props at hand they pretended to play the instruments and look realistic within the images.
Organisation of equiptment
Equipment
Cameras, lights and transport.- Cameras

Cameras
The camera's that the media department supplied us were " " they provided a sharp image for the digital camera, they were very mobile and light so i could attempt many different types of shots while holding the camera comfortably.Lights
This was incredibly important part of the photo shoot, it allowed us to achieve the right lighting not matter what type of shot. The box lights we used was not to harsh but really captured lighting on the model without being over the top and blinding.Transport
As a group it was not to difficult to transport all of the equiptment down to the studio, the equiptment was fairly light within the process because we only needed some box lights for lighting because the drama studio already has a good source of artificial light. In the photo shoot, the props I used was a variety of different classical musical instruments; violin, tuba, piano etc. These props were all somewhat at hand because they were available in the music room which was next door. I believe my use for these props were to denote the music genre. I mainly took my photos against the black background in the drama studio. I have also used studio lights within my shots to create shadows on my models face but so that it is still well lit within the photos as well. I also felt that the studio lights helped to focus the image to create a sharp image.
Artificial lighting VS natural lighting
In photography, different light sources have a different colour
temperature which can be compensated for with filters special lighting. A flash simulates the light of the sun
for a fraction of a second.

In my photo shoot i have also wanted to experiment with natural light against artificial ligh. Colours when using artificial light become highly saturated. In the second image you can see the natural light, by doing this It allowed as much light into the photo as possible, this meant that the colours were more natural but the image was blurred.

Low ISO and Flash
Low ISO and Flash
Low ISO can make an image as dark in sections, your ISO should always be set at the lowest number
whenever possible so that higher quality pictures can be produced. The lowest setting on an average camera is around 400.
This Low ISO image could be ideal for my crisp images displayed across my contents page.

For my photo shoot I decided to explore lighting, so I looked at the use of flash on the camera, this enables a sharp image of my focal point. However it also means that you will get unwanted shadows, and the colour within the image can be saturated.

Researching Institutions:Tesco magazine isle thoughts, research
This image is from Tesco's magazine isle. My thought process for doing this was to eye up the competition and see what particularly stands out on the isle. The empire magazine really stands out with its use of graphics and vibrant colours.

Masthead research to Classical music magazines
This Masthead will be somewhat similar to my masthead because of the bold, direct, simplistic font. This masthead is in italics which i think really suits the magazine cover, i believe that the C within the text reminds me of a musical note which illustrates the musical aspect of the magazine, i feel this is an subliminal message. This masthead in truth really intrigues me and gives me further ideas of what my masthead could be like.
The Muso also follows convention featured thoroughly throughout the classic music magazines which is ultimately simplistic, sleek and direct.
